English name: Black Trumpet Snail Scientific name: Melanoides sp. Origin: South East Asia Size male/female: 2.5 cm or 0.98 inch Water temperature: 20 - 26 °C or 68 - 79 °F Water Parameters: pH 7 - 8 Breeding: in freshwater Behaviour: peacefull Difficulty: easy Description:
The shell and behaviour is similar to the common trumpet snails (Melanoides tuberculatus). The vaults are a bit bigger. My experience on this species:
Not as prolific as common trumpet snails. Remarks:
They prefer harder water. If they can’t get enough lime the tips are getting white and fragile.
