English name: ? Scientific name: Pachymelania byronensis Origin: Coastal areas west africa Size male/female: 6 cm or 2.4 inch Water Temperature: 22 - 27 °C or 72 - 81 °F Water Parameters: pH 6.8 - 8 Breeding: brackish water is needed Behaviour: peacefull Difficulty: medium Description:
It’s a freshwater species wich tolerates slightly brackish water. Probably they filter their food. My experience on this species:
Although they’re looking similar to trumpet snails it is a totally different species.
They are not changing the position for days. That makes it difficult to decide if they are dead or not.
Dead snails are stinking so far the shell still contains biomass. As a night-active species they prefer shady places. Remarks: -
